THE AREA
With the beautiful town of Ronda just a short drive away and a good selection of walks to be had from the door, Montejaque is the ideal place to relax between the hills and the plains. The Sierra de Grazalema is one of the better known walking destinations to Britons, but the eastern limits of the Nature Park are less frequented than the rest of the area.
Quiet valleys, separated by long limestone ridges, are still farmed with a mixture of rain fed arable fields and oaks woodlands which provide food for the local black pigs, famed for their jamón iberico.
Springtime is a colourful season, with the decks awash with carpets of flowers and new leaf bursting from tree buds. However, the autumnal golds and browns are also a wonderfull time to experience the this unspoilt landscape.
THE ITINERARY
You are in the best hands here, as your host Angel has written a guide to the locla area including details of all the best sights and caves to visit. He'll give you added advice on the walks we recommend and if you feel you need a guide, will be happy to accompany you at very reasonable daiy rates.
THE ACCOMMODATION
The Posada del Fresno, in the centre of Montejaque, has been lovingly restored and converted ino a small guesthouse by Romi and Angel. You won't find a warmer welcome, and the en suite rooms with their rustic cosy feel reflect a care to detail that comes with a real desire to make your stay a memorable one. Romi provides mouth watering dishes for your evening meals and is more than happy for you to have a paek at her kitchen whilst she prepares the dishes.
