THE AREA
An hour's drive transports you to the idyllic mountain range and Nature Park of Montseny and the village of Viladrau; a former retreat for the well to do of Barcelona due to its clear air and pure waters.  Forest as far as the eye can see with deciduos oaks, chestnuts and beeches on the northern slopes and mediterranean evergreen species on the southern side facing the sea.  The peak of Tour de l'Home at just over 1700m is the tallest peak in Barcelona province and was a 'Signal Mount' for Roman sailors navigating across the Mediterranean.

THE ACCOMMODATION
We cannot praise highly enough the concept behind the Hotel Xalet Coromina.  Husband and wife team, Salvador and Belén, bring a fresh breath of air to the art of fine food and board.  The Xalet has just eight rooms but each one is tastefully decorated and well proportioned.  The hotel stands in its own lush gardens with a dip pool, from where the immensity of the surroundings woodlands can be fully appreciated.

Salvador has long been in the restaurant trade and says he knew from the age of eight that he wanted to cook.  Having chefed for the top brass during his military service he headed the culinary team at the renowned Petit Paris restaurant in Barcelona for many years.  He's brought his former Maitre D' and also one of the best of a young generation of new cuisine chefs to bolster the hotel's team, offering of the perfect blend affordable comfort and top class cuisine.

THINGS TO DO
Needless to say the grounds of the hotel provide the perfect means to relax whilst you read a book and contemplate the marvellous views.  We do recommend that you visit the nearby Park information centre with its superb interactionary displays highlighting the unique qualities of the area's forested terrain.

There are several walking trails to follow from the village of Viladrau, and a short drive will take you close to the summit of Tour de l'home, where a short walk to the top will reward you with astounding views on most days.

The nearby vineyard of Serrat de Montsoriu will provide an informal brunch and wine tasting that is a must for all wine lovers.
