VI's take Ports de Beceite by storm - May 2008 E-mail

This was the third year in succession that I have had the opportunity of walking in
Spain on a holiday expertly organised and run by Callum Christie.

This year there were 15 of us in the party 9 sighted guides and 6 visually impaired
and the holiday commenced with us all meeting Callum and Luis at Barcelona Airport
on Sunday 28th April 2008 and ended on Sunday 4th May 2008 with Callum and Luis
driving us back to Barcelona Airport.

This was a two centre break holiday moving to the second hotel during Wednesday
following our walk.

We had six excellent full days of walking through varying terrain with Callum being
expertly assisted by his friend Luis, a mountain guide and ski instructor.

The daily distances averaged approximately eight miles but this did not take into
consideration that despite there being well used footpaths that these were often
rather narrow and rocky and full of overgrown bushes and trees for us to negotiate.

The accommodation in both villages was clean and comfortable with good food being
served throughout.

In summary a holiday that was very enjoyable and well worth doing. (Chris is being a bit serious here, but he forgets to mention the humorous banter provided by himself, amongst others, that made the holiday such fun.  Up the Reds - Ed.)
